The Research Skills of Dr. Mark Dekutoski

August 25, 2017
With Dr. Mark Dekutoski’s extensive record of extensive research in the orthopedic surgery area of medicine, whether on his own or as part of top-flight research teams, it is no wonder he is considered a world-class expert on orthopedics. A number of his papers have drawn accolades over the years, with one of his most celebrated papers being “The AOSpine North America Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy Study: Perioperative complication rates associated with surgical treatment based on a prospective multicenter study of 302 patients.”

That study won Global Spine Congress Best Paper Award 1st Place from AOSPINE International, but it was by no means the only honor he’s received. He’s not all about research, of course. Before landing at the CORE Institute, Dr. Mark Dekutoski was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for a couple of decades, where he was the chairman of their medical school. He also developed their curriculum in Orthopedics. He also has been a committee chair with the Scoliosis Research Society and AOSpine North America, and he is a member of North American Spine Society and Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
